Models and methods related to inflammation

In vitro biological testing
10/10/2007

BIOalternatives is strongly involved in inflammation and immunomodulation research programs and is engaged in the development of reliable models for drug screening or evaluation as well as in fundamental research programs in the field of cytokines and cell signalling.

Biological models

BIOalternatives offers a wide range of biological models related to inflammation and immunology. These models target both the immune component of the inflammation (i.e. T lymphocytes) and the tissue component of the response (target cells and tissue).

IMMUNE/BLOOD CELL-DERIVED MODELS

  • Human whole blood
  • Human mononuclear cells (MNCs, PBMCs)
  • Human purified blood cells populations (subpopulations of B and T lymphocytes, monocytes …)
  • Human polymorphonuclear cells (PMNCs)
  • Human dendritic cells (DCs)
  • T lymphocyte (TL) lines or clones isolated from healthy or pathologic tissues
  • Current cell lines
  • Mouse splenocytes, thymocytes…

TARGET CELLS & TISSUES

  • Human epithelial cells & models
  • Human endothelial cells
  • Human articular cells
  • Murine neurons
  • current cell lines...

Inflammation/immunomodulation methods

IMMUNE/BLOOD CELL RELATED METHODS

  • Purification, cloning and typing
  • Proliferarion
  • Cytokine expression/ release following T cells activation (CD3/CD28, PMA, PHA...)
  • Surface receptor expression/activation following T cells activation
  • Immunoglobulin production following B cells activation (CD40, CD40+cytokines...)
  • Phagocytic activity
  • Oxidative burst activity
  • Migration/chemotaxis
  • Apoptosis
  • Innate immunity related assays (i.e.Toll like receptor expression and signaling pathways)
  • Miscellaneous assays

TARGET CELL RELATED METHODS
Analysis of the response of target cells to inflammatory cytokines or immune/blood cells conditioned media, …

  • Analysis of specific activation markers gene (RT-qPCR, dedicated arrays…)
  • Analysis of specific protein expression (immunolabeling-based methods)
  • Signal transduction assays (NF-kappa B nuclear translocation,...)
  • Cell migration
  • Miscellaneous parameters depending on the model to be evaluated
