Dermal papilla fibroblasts play a significant role in the hair regeneration process, particularly through the production and the release of mitogenic and growth factors.
The immune system and some pro-inflammatory cytokines also play a significant role in regulating the hair cycle. IL-1 alpha is also described as a hair growth inhibitor.
The purpose of this in vitro assay is to evaluate the inhibiting effects of compounds (molecules, active ingredients, extracts) on pro-inflammatory cytokine release (IL-8 or IL-6) by human dermal papilla fibroblasts stimulated by interleukin 1 alpha (IL-1 alpha), using an Elisa test.
