Skin is a physical and semi-permeable barrier which provides the body's first line of defense against environmental damage. Epidermal keratinocytes are directly impacted by stress and changes induced by pollution, such as indoor dust.
The purpose of this in vitro assay is to evaluate, via an MTT reduction assay, the capacity of compounds to protect keratinocytes by measuring their viability level in a model of normal human epidermal keratinocytes stressed by indoor dust (SRM, 2584).
